Luke Skywalker himself has lent his abilities to Ukraine forces in their ongoing conflict with Russia.

While it isn’t a lightsaber or the Force, Mark Hamill has lent his voice to “Air Alert,” an app that is linked to Ukraine's air defense system and alerts citizens of any potential air strike.

Hamill’s voice advises citizens, “Attention. Air raid alert," with a Jedi Knight's gravitas, also telling people to "proceed to the nearest shelter.”

Upon the conclusion of any air raid, Hamill announces, “the air alert is over," and signs off with, "May the Force be with you."

Hamill says he admired how Ukraine has "shown such resilience ... under such terrible circumstances,” and told the Associated Press it very much reminds him of the story in Star Wars.

He said, "A fairy tale about good versus evil is resonant with what's going on in Ukraine.  It's impossible not to be inspired by how they've weathered this storm."
