A right of passage for every child is when they finally start doing their own laundry, right? It's a necessary life skill and a huge indicator that you're growing up, right?
Well this mom has the internet divided because, heaven forbid, she wants her teenaged children to do their own laundry.
The woman explained that she requires her 14-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter to wash their own clothes and hang them up to dry. One day, she noticed her daughter's wet clothes in the machine, so she took them out, put them in a basket, and let them sit in their own musk.
The mom realizes she could've easily hung up the clothes herself but, as the mother says, "she should do it, right?"
And believe it or not, people are divided on this mother. Some think she's teaching her kids basic chores, while others believe that her actions are bordering on child neglect.
One person wrote, "I feel like your daughter found your Mumsnet account as that first reply was very teenagery! I don't think you're asking a lot. I do all our washing and it's not a massive chore so for one person to do their own washing is hardly onerous."
However, another countered saying, "Yes, I think it's awful you can't be bothered to wash their clothes. Let's be honest, if it was to help them for their future, you would teach them and ask them to help occasionally. I think you're lazy."
Is this mom completely out of line for expecting her children, her TEENAGED children to do their own laundry?
