Back in 2014 when a young man named Austin was getting his braces removed, the dentist moved to throw them in the trash. However, Austin's mother stopped that from happening.
And she had a very specific reason for wanting to keep them: to hang on the Christmas tree.
Austin explained in a TikTok that his mother told him at the time, "Austin, we paid $6,000 for those braces, I'm not letting her throw them away."
So, Austin's mom fashioned them into a Christmas tree ornament, using the metal wires and brackets as tinsels on a mini Christmas tree.
Commenters have "cheered on" Austin's mom's creative spirit according to Today, with some writing on the video, "Your mom is epic. Maybe a little cuckoo, but still epic." Another wrote, "Most expensive ornament on the tree."
