We're a few short months from those triple digit temps arriving in North Texas, which is something none of us are looking forward to.

In fact, the National Weather Service has had to adjust their heat maps to account for just how hot it's gotten over the last few years.

This year, the hottest areas on heat maps from the NWS will glow a shade of magenta, surpassing the red as the hottest spots around North Texas.

According to WFAA, magenta will signify the worst and deadliest of five heat threat categories, what the NWS is calling "rare and/or long-duration extreme heat with little to no overnight relief."

Red on the map isn't much better, which still signifies a "major" risk, which hurts "anyone without adequate cooling and hydration and has impacts reverberating through the health care system and some industries."
