NBC will not be broadcasting the Golden Globe Awards in 2022 after a growing list of controversies, including a severe lack of diversity, preferential treatment, misuse of funds, and allegations of sexism and abuse, involved with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which puts on the awards show.

These allegations were first pointed out by the Los Angeles Times, who revealed the HFPA has zero black members among its 87 members, and followed that by raising questions about some of the benefits received by members stemming from the millions that NBC pays to televise the event.

Per CNN, NBC said in a statement Monday, "We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform. However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes."

The HFPA released a timeline of changes they will be working to implement, but have promised similar actions in the past, and have only found themselves mired in more controversy.

The HFPA is working to hoping have the Golden Globes back on air in 2023.
