If you're leaching a Netflix account off of an old flame or your parents, the time for that will soon be coming to an end.
Netflix announced that it will no longer allow password sharing across any account in early 2023.
Recent research has shows that password sharing has been a major problem for the streaming service, and really ate into subscriptions in 2019.
However, according to the Wall Street Journal, people familiar with the situation say that Netflix was worried about how to address it without alienating consumers, and put off the plan to end password sharing for many years.
The company expects to begin rolling out the change in the U.S. early in the year.
Though Netflix declined to comment, Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos told investors in early December, that it was up to the company to make sure users see value in paying for the service, and that "Make no mistake, I don't think consumers are going to love it right out of the gate."
