This Saturday September 3 is National Cinema Day, and most movie theaters across the country are offering a pretty incredible incentive to get folks heading back to the theaters.

For just one day only, most theaters will be offering movie tickets for just $3, and it applies across ALL tickets, formats, and showtimes even IMAX and 3D movies.

If you've never heard of National Cinema Day, it's because it didn't exist until now.

Theater chains are desperate to get people back into the theaters to see new movies, as the pandemic gave way to On-Demand and same day streaming releases, which has greatly hurt the industry.

So far, a growing list of 3,000 theaters, including Regal, Cinemark, and AMC, have agreed to take part in the new holiday.

Jackie Brenneman, Cinema Foundation president, said in a statement per The Verge, "After this summer's record-breaking return to cinemas, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing.  We're doing it by offering a 'thank you' to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven't made it back yet."

You can find a list of participating theaters near you at NationalCinemaDay.org!
