Last Friday, the Texas Rangers had a very special guest throw the first pitch before their game against the Los Angeles Angels.
Opal Lee, the Godmother of Juneteenth, stood alongside former Ranger and Hall of Famer Ferguson Jenkins as she threw out the first pitch to honor the great Jackie Robinson on MLB's annual "Jackie Robinson Day."
Ms. Opal Lee walked for decades to bring awareness to Juneteenth and last year, was at the White House when President Biden made Juneteenth a national holiday.
Major League Baseball has been celebrating Jackie Robinson Day since 2004, to honor Robinson who broke baseball's color barrier to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers 75 years ago.
