Around four years ago, chef Charlie Doman was declared legally blind after suffering from a couple of strokes.

Fearing his cooking career was over, he was encouraged by his Executive chef to try out different stations at his restaurant, Moe Joe's in Chicago, to see what he was still capable of.

Four years later, not only can Doman perform any task in the kitchen, he was also promoted to manager at the restaurant.

Despite his incredibly narrow field of vision, IrisVision electronic glasses have helped Doman enhance what vision he has left, in order to read tickets and recipes.  Unfortunately, those glasses recently went missing.

To help Doman earn enough funds to pay for new glasses, the owner of Moe Joe's Jamie Little and Executive Chef Ryan Gramit developed a fundraiser.  Littell told ABC 7 in Chicago, "We came up with the pie idea, Executive Chef Ryan and myself.  And it rhymed with 'eyes,' 'Pies For Eyes.'"

Moe Joe's baked around 350 Key Lime pies, and in just two days ended up raising more than $13,000 to pay for Doman's new electronic glasses, along with TWO additional pairs for visually impaired children.

Little said, "The thing about this town is they don't let you fall and if you ask for help, they help you.  Everyone rallies around each other here."
