Robert De Niro was spending his very early Monday morning with his daughter in his New York townhome when 30-year-old Shanice Aviles broke in and decided to help herself to some Christmas presents.

A "known burglar," Aviles broke into De Niro's home at around 2:30 in the morning.

According to Page Six, officers with the NYPD's 19th Precinct public safety team spotted Aviles trying to open doors to commercial buildings before she made her way inside De Niro's home.

"She was stealing Christmas presents," one officer noted.

De Niro and his daughter were upstairs at the time of the incident, and had no interaction with Aviles.

Aviles, who has a total of 26 prior arrests, was arrested at the scene, and charges were pending earlier yesterday morning.

Aviles began her crimes, mostly burglaries, during the coronavirus pandemic, and was picked up for seven burglaries between Nov. 25 and Dec. 8 on the Upper East Side.
