Every high school senior faces an incredibly intimidating choice deciding where to go for college. For Valerie Do, she was looking forward to lounging on the sunny beaches of Florida when she applied to Miami University.
There's just one problem: the University of Miami is in Florida. Miami University is in Oxford, Ohio.
An international student from Vietnam, Do didn't realize her mistake until she read her acceptance letter welcoming her to Ohio. Do told Insider, "I realized there are no beaches; it's just a cornfield in the middle of nowhere in the Midwest of America."
It worked out though, as Do decided to attend "because of the financial aid she was offered, the scholarship they gave her, the safety of the area, and the business program."
She posted a TikTok of her mishap, which has gone viral earning almost 2 million views.
