With both the Stars and Mavericks advancing into the next round of the playoffs, your TV and attention span will be tuned quite a lot to sports this week.

And that’s incredible news for your health.

A new study out of Japan found that watching sports “boosts our mental health and generally makes us happier human beings!”

According to Waseda University, watching sports activates "reward circuits" in our brain, which are linked to feelings of pleasure and happiness.

Associate Professor Shintaro Sato from the Faculty of Sport Sciences, who led the study, commented, “For those seeking to enhance their overall well-being, regularly watching sports [can] serve as an effective remedy.”
