Survivor winner Mike Gabler made history Wednesday night after securing his victory during the 43rd season of the reality show.

He will be the first contestant in the show's history to not take home a penny of his million dollar prize.

Instead, Gabler, who is from Kingwood, TX, announced during the show that he would be donating his entire prize to "veterans in need who are recovering from psychiatric problems, PTSD, and curb the suicide epidemic."

Gabler is making the donation in honor of his father Robert Gabler, who was a Green Beret.

Per KHOU, Gabler added during the finale, "We're going to save lives and do something good.  Season 43, all of us did this. A million dollars is going to them. We made history guys."
