A couple of weeks ago, senior Daverius Peters was preparing to walk at Hahnville High School's graduation ceremony when a school representative told him he would not be allowed to enter the building.
Apparently, Peters' shoes, which were black leather sneakers with white soles, were in violation of the dress code the school set for males: dark dress shoes.
Peters feared he would not be able to walk, until John Butler, a paraeducator and student mentor at the school, stepped in, and offered Peters his own shoes to wear so he would be able to walk.
Butler told Fox News, "It became a no-brainer for me. I immediately took my shoes off."
Though Butler's shoes were two sizes too big, Peters was incredibly thankful for the gesture. Butler told Peters, "We're gonna have to make this work, because no matter what, you are walking on that stage. He smiled, he looked good and I was just so happy about that."
