Don't let anyone tell you that picking up loose change on the ground isn't worth it.  The habit might make you a millionaire!

Well, that takes a lot of luck or a LOT of time but a collection of ten pennies sold at auction for the cool price of $1,113,174!

The pennies were from early last century, and were "specially struck proof coins made for collectors by the United States Mint in Philadelphia in the early years of the Lincoln cents" according to a report from KTLA.

The Lincoln penny, designed by Lithuanian immigrant Victor D. Brenner, was introduced in 1909 as a successor to the Indian Head penny.

The auction house GreatCollections says a 1909 Lincoln penny that was part of the collection sold for $365,625 Sunday!

Another four pennies from between 1909 and 1915 sold for more than $100,000 each.
