With July 4th holiday having come and gone, how many of us woke up Tuesday morning with just a massive hangover?
How many of us woke up with a massive hangover and still had to head into work? Bless your hearts.
Well you probably could've combated the headache and nausea with a fancy "hangover pill," but do those really work?
Chances are no, but science has found one remedy that seems to cure those hangover symptoms better than anything else: a nice, huge, greasy breakfast.
A study was conducted in the UK, so of course they focused on the "Full English Breakfast," which usually consists of "back bacon, eggs, British sausage, baked beans, fried tomato, fried mushrooms, black pudding, fried and toasted bread."
So yeah, lots of grease, lots of fat, lots of goodness.
According to the team of researchers at King's College, the foods found in a full English contain cysteine, an amino acid that can decrease the amount of acetaldehyde, which is the substance that the liver breaks alcohol down into.
Eating a meal such as this will also boost energy and blood sugar levels, which according to the Daily Mail, can help tackle tiredness.
Nausea after drinking can often be caused by an empty stomach, so eating obviously helps with this too.
One commonly thought cure that apparently does more harm than good? Hair of the dog.
According to Dr Robert Swift of the Providence Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Rhode Island, having a little alcohol the morning after a night of having a lot of alcohol "doesn't give the alcohol-weary any time to recover."
In fact, you could even be left "facing an even more severe hangover than the one they were battling."
