‘Oh I wish I was an Oscar Mayer…Frank?’

Yeah, it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as the original, but that’s no problem for Oscar Mayer, as they have announced a MAJOR change to one of its most iconic brands.

Since being created in 1936, Oscar Mayer has paraded around the world in the Wienermobile but apparently all good things must come to an end, as the 27-foot long hot dog will now be known as the “Frankmobile.”

release from Oscar Mayer explains the name change stating, “The newly coined ‘Frankmobile’ pays homage to the brand’s 100% Beef Franks as it debuts a tasty new recipe with a more balanced flavor profile and iconic beefy taste that is more flavorful than ever — all while sparking miles of smiles and uniting fans around a love of meat.”

Not only has the Wienermobile sorry, the Frankmobile receiving a name change, but the equally iconic “Weenie Whistles” will now be known as “Frank Whistles” going forward.

Obviously, people aren’t taking too kindly to this news.

However, it sounds like there’s still a chance the name could be converted back.

An Oscar Mayer spokesperson told TODAY, “For now, the Frankmobile is a name Oscar Mayer is trying out to see if it cuts the mustard with its fans.

The Wienermobile leveraged Oscar Mayer’s famous Wieners for almost a century, and Oscar Mayer is now passing the baton onto its 100% Beef Franks, as it debuts a new, tasty recipe this summer.”
