Yesterday, golf legend Tiger Woods was involved in a single-car accident while driving in Los Angeles.

Police say Woods was traveling through Rancho Palos Verdes at a "relatively greater speed than normal" when his 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV crossed the median onto the wrong side of the road before veering off the road entirely and crashing onto a hillside.

Per Golf Digest, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department said though the outside of Woods' vehicle was completely destroyed, the interior remained intact. Woods had to be pulled out through the windshield after rescuers pried it open using the jaws of life.

Woods was immediately taken to an area hospital where he underwent immediate surgery to repair his injuries, which authorities describe as "significant orthopaedic injuries to his right lower extremity."

Overnight, Tiger Woods' official Twitter account that released a statement that says the 15-time major winner is "awake, responsive, and recovering."
