On October 27, 2002, Emmitt Smith stepped onto the field against the Seattle Seahawks and into NFL immortality.
It was on this day twenty years ago, following an 11-yard run, that Smith became the NFL's all-time leading rusher.
Todd Archer of ESPN believes Smith's record of 18,355 rushing yards could be "unbreakable."
The NFL's current rushing leaders are Mark Ingram II of New Orleans Saints), Ezekiel Elliott, and Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans.
Ingram, 32, would be 43 years old and need to play all 17 games each season at his career pace to break Smith's record. Elliott, 27, would be 35 at his current pace without missing a game, and Henry, 28, would be 37 at his current pace without missing a game.
