A couple of months ago, Kamille Richardson of Raleigh, North Carolina requested an Uber to take her to a Verizon store so she could purchase a new phone.

Richardson, who is blind, never made it to her destination though.

In fact, she was dropped off over a mile away from the store, at a random apartment complex, and then abandoned by her driver who sped off without her!

Richardson knew she wasn’t at her proper location because the driver led her to a door, which he proceeded to knock and then run back to his car, claiming that he had to go pick up someone at the airport.

Richardson and her attorneys demanded an apology from Uber and asked that the driver no longer be able to work for the company.

Earlier this week, WRAL News received a statement from the rideshare company that read:

We apologize for Ms. Richardson's stressful experience. We have investigated this issue, which appears to have been a result of a map error that directed the driver to an incorrect drop off location, and have addressed the map issue.

Our goal is to create a platform that supports people's ability to easily move around their communities, and we’re committed to building features, and working with experts to make the Uber platform more accessible.
