Chances are you brought a turkey sandwich to the office for lunch today (the Moistmaker not required), and there’s a high probability Thanksgiving leftovers, in some form or fashion, will occupy most of your dinners this week.
However, the USDA says that after today, it’s time to toss all of those leftovers in the garbage.
The USDA recommends not consuming Thanksgiving leftovers four days after the big day, as after that time spoilage bacteria can begin to develop.
These bacterias may cause the food to develop a bad taste or smell, so you may be throwing them out already.
The USDA says that turkey, stuffing, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, gravy, and pumpkin pie can all be stored in the fridge for three to four days, though most foods can be stored in the freezer for several months.
According to USA Today Thanksgiving dishes spoil faster typically than other leftovers because the food sits out in the “danger zone” longer than a typical meal.
