These days you would find it rather off for a smartphone user to not have their device completely locked, requiring a password to enter. Remember a time when you could just open a phone and have access to everything?
Online security is a paramount concern facing society study, but that's no problem for say, the person you are in a relationship with.
A survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Prove found that the average American believes they can figure out their partner's passwords in just five attempts.
The study asked 2,000 Americans about their password habits, and found many respondents think they know their partner's password habits, because in the end we just make it really easy for them.
The survey found that generally, we all have four "go-to" passwords that we use for EVERYTHING, with 31% of folks saying their passwords are just different variations of the same word.
Even so, 79% said they have six or fewer go-to passwords.
Rodger Desai, CEO & Founder of Prove, said in a statement per Study Finds, "The internet wasn't built with security in mind and so as consumers, we all experience how tedious passwords and two-factor security can be. Screw up your password entry a few times, and now you are locked out and spending 20 minutes with a call center agent to fix things. It's just a broken model held together with duct tape.
"Businesses that modernize their digital channels by removing the friction caused by antiquated security, will take all the market share. Consumers flock to businesses that respect their time and keep them secure without hassle. In our view, the winners in the digital economy will be those that kill the password."
