Even though Thanksgiving is tomorrow, no doubt plenty of you have your Christmas tree already up and decorated. Did you know you averted death by doing so, too?
A woman in Cleveland named Angela Presti was recently putting up her first real Christmas tree when she suddenly went into aphylactic shock and had to be rushed to the E.R.
Unknowingly, Presti suffers from something called "Christmas Tree Syndrome," and is allergic to the mold that grows on Christmas trees when it gets wet, which usually happens when the tree sits in a lot for an extended period of time.
According to WKYC, 7% of us are at least somewhat allergic to this mold, though severe reactions are extremely rare.
Presti collapsed at the hospital, but doctors gave her a shot of epinephrine and reportedly she's now doing okay. We're confident she's going to stick with fake Christmas trees from now on, though.
