A woman in Belgium is claiming to have banned from a zoo over her alleged "affair" with one of the zoo's chimpanzees.
Yes, you read that correctly.
According to the NY Daily News, Adie Timmermans has visited the Antwerp Zoo every week for the past four years to visit a chimpanzee, Chita. She calls her frequent visits an "affair," and claims that the zoo has banned her from entering the premises because of them.
She says, "I haven't got anything else. Why do they want to take that away. We're having an affair, I'll just say. Other dozens of visitors are allowed to make contact. Then why not me?"
Video shows Timmermans and the 38-year-old Chita interacting with each other on either side of a thin glass wall, appearing to make kissing faces, which has zoo officials worried.
They claim that the chimp's to humans could be detrimental to the animal's connection with other chimpanzees.
Zoo officials said "When Chita is constantly surrounded by visitors, the other monkeys ignore him and don't consider him part of the group, even though it's important for him. He then sits on his own outside of visiting hours."
