Like many of us, Alison Hawthorn was looking for something to do to pass the time during quarantine, so she decided on making jewelry. A very specific type of jewelry.
The British mom has been crafting jewelry out of breastmilk, creating a resin out of the liquid that she's able to craft into necklaces, rings, earrings, and pendants.
Hawthorn explained to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, hosts of the talk show This Morning, "I decided that my resolution for the brand new year would be to make jewelery with resin. I started making things like key rings. This whole time, I breastfed my twins for the first year, and as we approached the year, I wanted something to celebrate our feeding journey."
Hawthorn started making the jewelry for herself, friends and family until word got out about her work, began crafting some for them as well.
She has also made keepsakes out of hair, baby teeth, pet hair, and ashes, and hopes to soon add jewelry made out of umbilical cords to her collection as well.
