She was a State Fair of Texas legend.
Wanda Winter has died. The woman they called "Fernie" is credited with bringing the funnel cake to the State Fair of Texas back in 1980.
Fernie says she got the idea after seeing them on a family vacation in Branson and decided to give them a try here.
Needless to say they were - and still are - a huge success.
According to Fernie, "I didn't invent them, but I perfected them."
Wanda Winter was 95 years old.
