Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom and ‘Lord of the Rings’ cast to reunite ahead of film’s 20th anniversary

The Fellowship is getting back together.

The cast of the “Lord of the Rings” is set to reunite to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the first film in the franchise.

Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Sean Astin, Viggo Mortensen, Cate Blanchett, Liv Tyler and Ian McKellan are just some of the stars joining director Peter Jackson in three separate theatrical Q&A sessions, reported Deadline.

Stephen Colbert will moderate each event which will take place over the course of three weeks with different cast members.  The reunions will initially be available at theatrical screenings of the new remastered version of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

The first Q&A will be available beginning on March 25th with Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan discussing “The Fellowship of the Rings.”

Beginning April 1, fans can watch Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Viggo Mortensen, and Liv Tyler discuss “The Two Towers.”

Peter Jackson, Ian McKellen, and Andy Serkis will round out the sessions by discussing “Return of the King” beginning on April 8.

The Q&As are being put on by Alamo Drafthouse as part of their “Support Local Cinemas” campaign.

“These cinematic icons are gathering not just to tell stories and answer burning questions, but to support local cinemas around the world that are struggling to survive the COVID era,” the company said in a statement.

“From now through the end of April, Alamo Drafthouse has committed to share this special content with any theater that would like to participate anywhere in the world.”

The news comes just days after the theater chain announced it had filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy and would close several locations.

Following their release in theaters, the Q&A sessions will be available online at a future date.

Fans can submit questions for the sessions using the hashtag #LOTR20 on Twitter by March 10th. Tickets for the reunion sessions can be purchased on the Alamo Drafthouse website.
