Oconee County Coroner Karl E. Addis issued the following press release Tuesday morning.
A 39 year-old Seneca woman died late Monday night after a motor vehicle collision near Seneca. This single vehicle collision occurred at approximately 11:37 pm at the intersection of Clemson Boulevard and Wells Highway.
The SC Highway Patrol had set up a license check point at the intersection of Wells Highway and Owens Road. A vehicle traveling east on Wells Highway approached the check point and did not stop; the SC Highway Patrol pursued this vehicle.
This vehicle went through the intersection at Clemson Boulevard; the vehicle then crashed completely into the basement of the residence located at 10695 Clemson Boulevard.
The vehicle came to rest on top of this woman who was in bed. She died at the scene. The decedent is identified as Vanessa Leanne Neimeyer. She resided at the incident location with her mother and grandparents.
This collision is being investigated by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Department.An autopsy will be performed at a later date to assist with the death investigation.
The name of the driver and charges have not yet been released.
