Gunshot Victim Identified

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office issued the following press release Tuesday morning.

This morning at 525am, Deputies responded to 310 WoodRiver Way in Taylors in reference to a subject that was found in a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim has been transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition. Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit are on scene.
This incident is in the early stages and information is limited. If anyone has any information concerning this incident, they are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 23-CRIME.

Update:

The Greenville County Coroner's Office has identified Willie James Johnson, 48 of Greer, as the man found inside a wrecked vehicle on Wood River Way, Taylors, Tuesday morning just before 5:30AM. 

Johnson had been shot and was taken to the Emergency Department at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital by EMS. He was pronounced dead just before 7:30PM Tuesday night.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. The cause of death is pending but the manner of death has been ruled as a homicide. 

This case is under investigation by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office and the Greenville County Coroner's Office.
