The Greenville County Sheriff's office issued the following press release early Saturday morning.
This morning, at around 3:20am, Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to 506 Golden Pine Court in regards to a reported home invasion that resulted in two children being kidnapped.
Preliminary reports indicate a white male with dark hair, full beard and a tattoo on his neck and a white female, wearing a black and white skull mask with a pink shirt and blue jeans, forced their way into a residence at gunpoint. The suspects then proceeded to assault two adult females before taking the kids from the residence and leaving in a dark colored pick up.
The assault victims were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. One of the victims was the mother of one of the kids. The other child was being babysat at the residence during the time.
If anyone has information regarding their whereabouts please call 911 immediately.
Less than 30 minutes later, the children were reported found and the Sheriff's Office issued this updated press release.
The two children who were taken during the home invasion (Sofia Whitt and Brison Carmack) on Golden Pine Ct. have been located and are safe.
Deputies located the children after a caller on Piedmont Highway notified our office that two children were on their front porch.
Deputies are continuing to investigate and ask for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 23-CRIME.
Saturday evening, the Sheriff's office issued another updated press release.
In following up on the kidnapping incident that occurred this morning, investigators have charged 59 year-old, Siegrid Cundiff Covington and 33 year-old, Jessica Whitt with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child.
During the course of investigation, investigators learned that the two children who were kidnapped were in the care of Whitt and Covington who had crystal meth present in the residence.
Investigators learned that the home invasion occurred at around 1:15am when the two previously reported suspects, armed with a firearm, assaulted Whitt and Covington before taking the children and later dropping them off at a residence.
Investigators learned that following the children being taken from the residence, both Whitt and Covington went to at least one other location and engaged in drug use rather than reporting the incident to law enforcement. The Sheriff's Office was not notified of this kidnapping until just before 3:30am.
The children were recovered safely and have been placed with family. Investigators are continuing the investigate the circumstances surrounding the home invasion and kidnapping, however preliminary information reveals the suspects entered the residence and began demanding cash.
We ask for anyone with information regarding this case to call Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 23-CRIME.
