
Greenville - Voters in Greenville county picked a Republican candidate in a primary to fill a vacant state Senate seat. William Timmons gave up his seat in the South Carolina Senate when he was elected as the new 4th District Congressman in November.

Greenville Rep. Dwight Loftis won the primary with 55% of the vote defeating Greenville City Councilwoman Amy Ryburg Doyle and Greenville businessman Jeffrey Stringer.
Loftis will face Democrat Tina Belge in the special election on March 26.
