Man Gets 50 Years For Murder

A South Carolina man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the execution-style slaying of his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.News outlets report 26-year-old Andrew Ryan Murphy was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to charges including murder. Authorities say the February 2018 slaying of 25-year-old Daeshawn Brown was recorded by a security camera at a nearby home. Video shows Murphy approaching Brown from behind and then shooting him in the head at close range.The video was used to identify Murphy. Solicitor Barry Barnette says in a statement that Murphy had threatened Brown earlier that night in a Facebook conversation with his ex-girlfriend. Cellphone records also put Murphy at the scene of the Spartanburg crime.Reports say Murphy isn't eligible for parole.
