Two separate homes in Laurens County have been cited for felony abuse and neglect of animals.

Laurens County Animal Control was called out to a home on John Grant Street Friday where they found 3 dogs severely malnourished, chained up and no clean water or food.

One dog had a severe wound on its neck because the chain was so heavy.  A total of 7 dogs were taken from that property.

The second home on Aberdare Drive had 16 cats and one dog living in a single wide mobile home.

Officials reported the roach and spider infestation was terrifying.  Deplorable conditions for the animals living in feces, fleas and rotten food.

The dog along with 12 of the 16 cats were rescued from the home, 4 escaped.

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office issued citations for humane care violations and felony warrants for the ill treatment of animals.
