The Anderson County Sheriff's Office is trying to secure funds for body cameras for deputies.
According to Sergeant JT Foster with the Sheriff's Office, Anderson County Council voted last night and ..."The vote for body cams was approved. We are moving forward with the process and should be receiving equipment and training of that equipment in the upcoming weeks."County will move forward with the $750,000, 5 year contract with the company Axon.
The cost of equipment and software is around $185,000, which will be paid in the first year.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office expects to pay for the other 4 years through state and federal grants.
Should those fall through, the Office is seeking the county's support. The plan is to purchase 120 body cams for deputies.
