Heads up for anyone trying to get to Charleston this week. The Charleston International Airport has just announced that it will be shutting down all airport operations as of 3 pm on Wednesday.

This is in preparation for Hurricane Dorian, which is now making its way up the coast.

It’s as of yet unclear when the airport will resume operations. Estimates currently have the airport reopening on Friday morning, but that is all dependent upon weather conditions.

So far other airports, such as Myrtle Beach, have not yet announced closures but say they are keeping an eye on weather reports and may end up temporarily closing in the next day or so.

Currently about 800,000 people are under evacuation orders.

Schools and government offices are already closed in most coastal towns and cities.
