The travel industry has been noticably hit by the economic impacts of the coronavirus.
Michelle Fleming, the Communications Manager at GSP said this includes the Greenville Spartanburg International Airport.
"Kind of in line with all the airports around the country, demand is far down from what we'd usually be experiencing right now," Fleming said.
However, despite the reduced passenger flights, Fleming said the number of daily cargo flights being shipped out has actually about doubled, and cargo staff has actually had their workload substantially increased to meet this demand.
Cleaning has also been stepped up at the airport to keep things constantly sanitized amidst the COVID concerns.
"We've enhanced our cleaning," Fleming said. "Cleaning and sanitation is a 24/7 job at the airport at all times, but especially now."
Otherwise, Fleming said, staff is mostly unaffected, and things are running fairly normally.
