Valentine's Day classics:  chocolates and flowers, but what flowers to pick?  Jessica Carpenter, the assistant manager at Dahlia: A Florist in downtown Greenville gave some little known info for Valentine's floral shoppers.

One of the things Carpenter touched on is the meanings given to different colors of flowers, particularly roses.

For example, red and white roses are a popular mix for weddings because white represents charm and innonce and red represents love and romance.

As for other February holidays, Galentine's Day may not be an official holiday, but its popularity is ever growing.

Local bookstore M. Judson celebrated Galentine's Day with a trivia night about famous female authors.

Book sellers and managers at M. Judson, Maria Sivils and Kaitlyn Pyle, said the inspiration for the event came from Galentine's Day itself: the celebration of women.

The books highlighted in the event included Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and Emma.
