GREER – The Greer Centennial Lions Club was among twelve clubs in the district to receive the Club Excellence Award for the 2018- 2019 fiscal year.
The club was recently recognized by Lions Club District 32-S 2nd Vice District Governor Jim Barbare.
“Receiving this award is no easy task. Clubs must dedicate their entire year to growing members, serving in the community, donating funds to Lions Club missions and attending leadership training events”, said 2nd VDG Jim Barbare.
The award is given to clubs that excel in community service, membership growth and communications.
The Greer Centennial Lions Club was chartered in 2017 and has nearly 40 members.
“This is a great honor for our club and the members who serve our community. We are passionate about making a difference in Greer and this award affirms our commitment,” said Caroline Robertson, Greer Centennial Lions Club President.
Last years’ service projects include:glaucoma screenings at Family Fest and the Benson Classic Car show, collecting glasses through donation boxes at various businesses and helping children at Chandler Creek and Crestview Elementary School receive eye exams and glasses.
The Greer Centennial Lions meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at Mutt’s on Highway 14 starting at noon. Guests are encouraged to attend. ----
[Other Lions Club News] The Greer Centennial Lions Club will host its 3rd annual bass fishing tournament fundraiser Saturday April 4th, 2020 on Lake Robinson to raise money to further its mission.
