The AccelerateED Task Force has been working on plans for when students return to school this fall, and those final plans were presented at a press conference Monday afternoon.
At the end of last week, the AccelerateED Task Force met to discuss the plans drafted for returning to school in the fall and to go over feedback on the plans from the public.
Superintendent Molly Spearman left that meeting with several notes of possible changes to be made for the final plan.
That final four-phase plan was announced at the Monday afternoon press conference.
“Our focus from the state level down to each school and classroom must remain directed toward protecting the health, safety, and wellness of students and staff while giving students the best possible learning experience that is as close to normal as health and safety will allow,” said State Superintendent Molly Spearman.
The final four-phase plan was announced at the Monday afternoon press conference.
The four phases consist of the following:
- Immediate Actions
- Summer Planning and Preparation
- Preopening and Reopening
- Continuity of Operations
Each of these phases offer various recommendations for school officials regarding the aspects of safely running schools amidst COVID concerns.
The plan offers models for schools to follow depending on the spread of COVID-19 in those areas:
- Full In-Person Model
- Hybrid Model
- Full Remote Model
Each of these models offers recommendations for running schools during COVID using either of the three methods the models are named for.
Various universal recommendations are also included such as limited bus capacity, spacing of students in classrooms, and sanitation and protective equipment availability in schools.
