UPDATE: The Laurens County Coroner has released the name of the driver who died in a crash on I-26 Sunday.
Coroner Vickie Cheek said 50 year old Douglas Michael Denton of Savannah died at the scene when his truck, pulling a camper, came in contact with an SUV while changing lanes.
Highway Patrol responded to an accident Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm in Laurens County.
The crash involving a pick up truck pulling a camper and an SUV were traveling Westbound on I-26 near Joanna. The accident happened near Exit 60, Whitmire Highway.
According to Highway Patrol, the vehicles came into contact with one another while changing lanes, causing both to lose control. The pick up truck overturned, the driver died at the scene.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
The victims identity has not been released yet.
