"Celebrate Christmas with a Hero, Inc" - it's a 501-c3 tax exempt organization in partnership with the city of Seneca.
Now through December 14th, the program will be accepting "new toys and clothing" to make sure kids of Oconee County won't have to wonder if Santa will be stopping by their house this year.
Monetary donations are accepted as well and can be dropped off at the Seneca City Hall from 8am to 5pm.
The fundamental idea is that volunteers shop in advance, based off children wish lists, and buy local to help keep revenue in Oconee County.
Official Press Release from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office below:
“CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITH A HERO, INC”
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF SENECA
ANNUAL NEW TOY/CLOTHING COLLECTION
Items may be dropped off at Seneca City Hall from November 21, 2019-December 14, 2019, 8:00am-5:00pm
“Celebrate Christmas with a Hero, Inc.” consists of a board of directors, has its own 501 c 3 tax exempt status designation, bylaws, policies/procedures, and a screening protocol for potential applicants; our program accepts new toy and clothing donations, monetary donations, and we participate in fund raising throughout the year as well.
The fundamental idea is that volunteers shop in advance for the children by purchasing items from Oconee County retailers in an effort to keep revenue in our own community.
The children are screened by an established protocol and are referred to us through private, governmental, clergy affiliates, and others that are aware of needs.
We hand out gifts to include needs and wants from the child’s wish list around Christmas.
Thank you in advance for your participation and support; together we can make a difference in the lives of children less fortunate in our community.
A tax letter can be prepared upon request for donations
