Applications are now available for the 2nd Annual Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Girls’ Empowerment Camp.
The camp will be held at each day from 8:15am until 3:30pm from Monday, June 8th thru Thursday, June 11th at West-Oak High School.
The grade level’s for the camp is for girls who are rising 7th graders thru rising seniors.
Transportation is available for those who need it both to and from the camp each day.
Breakfast and lunch will be served each day at no cost for the participants. In fact, those who participate will be able to do so for free thanks to sponsors and donations to the Girls’ Empowerment Camp.
There is an application process for admission to the girls’ camp.
Applications are available from a School Resource Officer or from administrators at all Middle and High Schools in the School District of Oconee County.
The deadline for submitting applications is the end of April.
Those girls who are chosen will be notified by mail sometime in early May and then will receive a follow-up phone call to confirm participation in the camp.
The student’s name, the parent’s name, addresses and contact numbers are part of the application, along with other information.
The Girls’ Empowerment Camp is an opportunity for law enforcement to build better relationships with our youth as well as an opportunity for girls to learn about why character and self-confidence should be an important part of their lives.
The week will be filled with fun activities and team building opportunities.
