Greenville Police Chief Ken Miller has been placed on administrative leave following the SLED investigation.
Interim captain Jason Rampey, who was also under investigation, was placed on administrative leave as well.
Miller was not charged following the investigation, but he was told in a recent evaluation by the interim city manager at the time, Nancy Witworth, that he would have to earn back trust within the department going forward.
His scores in leadership and management were marked as "below average", though he received strong marks in several other areas such as community outreach and officer recruitment.
The initial SLED investigation was sparked after receiving complaints of misconduct in the Greenville Police Department.
One of these complaints involved Miller potentially giving preferential treatment to a businessman who was arrested for public intoxication in August of last year because of his contributions to the Greenville Police Foundation.
Deputy Chief Howie Thompson is serving as the acting police chief in Miller's absence.
