A reckless driving bill has been proposed after a road rage incident hospitalized a 13 year old boy in September.
The driver, Norman Gardner, was convicted of reckless driving and served 30 days in jail, the maximum penalty for reckless driving.
Gardner was convicted and served the full thirty days while the child he hit, Wellfred Hallens, was still in the hospital.
Reckless driving resulting in death has a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.
State Representative Jason Elliot is advocating for the bill, which seeks to define great bodily injury more clearly, create the offense of reckless driving that results in great bodily injury, and provide a penalty.
