The City of Simpsonville and Senior Action have created a meal program for seniors in Greenville County.
Robbie Davis, Recreation Director for City of Simpsonville Parks and Recreation, said Andrea Smith, the Executive Director of Senior Action, reached out to see if the city could assist local seniors.
Since the city's senior center building is currently closed it has been used for the drive-by meal pickup site.

Meals are available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM.
A hot meal, frozen meal, supplement (such as a banana, orange, or bread), and a drink are provided on Mondays and Wednesdays.
On Fridays, two frozen meals are provided in addition to the hot meal to cover the weekend.
Over 600 seniors have participated in the program since its beginning on May 4th.
Davis expects the program to continue for some time.
"We plan to do this with Senior Action until the city officially opens our building back up. Now we know we'll probably go the end of June with the meals," Davis said.
They hope to continue the program even after COVID-19.
"We put in for a grant that we hope to become a congregate meal site, which means seniors will be able to come eat here five days a week with a meal prep program through the congregate meals in the Appalachian Council of the Government. We're hoping that this right here is a test of what we can do later on," Davis said.

Eligible participants must be 60 years old or older and live in Greenville County.
To register, call 864-967-9533 Monday through Thursday between 9 AM and 3 PM.
Meal pickup is at the Simpsonville Activity and Senior Center at 310 W Curtis Street in Simpsonville.
