Oconee County May Have Been Hacked

Statement from the Sheriff's Office: 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public that malware has affected certain servers at the Oconee County Pine Street offices. The servers affected have been isolated and taken offline. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the appropriate state and federal agencies have been notified of this malware incident.

These agencies are investigating this incident alongside of Oconee County IT, and are working to resolve the issue.

At this time the Oconee County Pine Street offices as well as the Oconee County courthouse are closed. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Oconee County has identified the malware and currently has it isolated as we continue to evaluate our computer systems.
County Administrator Amanda Brock states that “all Oconee County offices will be open for business tomorrow, although some offices may have limited resources until all systems are fully restored”. 
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office along with SLED and the FBI will continue to investigate and try to determine who is responsible for the malware.
