The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will soon have a new male explosives and tracking dog and are asking for help with a name for the new canine.

This special contest is open to all elementary school students in grades K-5 in Oconee County.  Even homeschooled kids can participate.

If any homeschooled or privately educated elementary age children in the county would like to participate, a responsible adult can call (864) 638-4117 on his or her behalf or email kcarter@oconeelaw.com with their name selection.

The contest is running now through  Friday, May 17th. The student whose dog name is chosen will receive a $100 cash prize from the Sheriff’s Foundation.

All public school students may pick up an entry form in their school’s front office. Homeschooled children should have a parent or adult call 864-638-4117 on his or her behalf or can email kcarter@oconeelaw.com with their name selection.

The picture here is the the actual new canine, a male yellow lab.  This new dog is being purchased with funds raised through the Oconee County Sheriff’s Foundation.
