A police chase in Spartanburg County ends with a suspect in custody.

Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. Lyman Police Department started pursuing a vehicle they believed to be driven by an intoxicated male.

The pursuit started on New Cut Road near Howard Street, and after several turns, the suspect was able to elude the original responding officer.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office eventually ordered one of their responding officers to forcibly stop the vehicle when safe.

The first attempt to stop the vehicle failed, but the second attempt was successful, resulting in damage to two deputy vehicles.

When the vehicle was successfully stopped, the man got out of the car with a black object in his hand.

This is when a deputy drew his weapon and told the suspect to put his hands in the air. The suspect refused and took off running.

The short chase ended with deputies taking the man to the ground and into custody.
