The Hobart Lewis for Sheriff campaign provided the following press release from Tim Waller PR
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Following Tuesday’s special election for Greenville County sheriff, Republican frontrunner Hobart Lewis will be endorsed by two former opponents Friday.
Lewis, who has served in multiple law enforcement capacities in Greenville County, will pick up the endorsements of former candidates Darius Hall and Robert Whatley. Hall and Whatley placed third and fourth in the special election, respectively.
In endorsing Lewis, Hall said, “Hobart Lewis is better suited to be sheriff than Smith – who’s been away from Greenville for 28 years. Lewis has what it takes to address the morale problem with deputies and the trust issue with members of the community.”
Lewis has built his campaign on a grassroots effort centered about restoring trust, building community support, and honoring the sacrifices Greenville County deputies make in service of the county.
“He’s a good, honorable man with Christian values,” Whatley said. “Deputies need a leader they can see and trust, someone they know will have their back. That leader is Hobart Lewis.”
Hall and Whatley will formally endorse Lewis at a news conference Friday at 11 a.m. in council chambers at Greenville County Square.
UPDATE: The news conference originally scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday has been moved to 1 p.m. due to scheduling conflicts.
