Travelers Rest police and fire department were called to the Walmart off Highway 25 and Benton Road early this morning.
Police got the call just after 4:30AM about a suspect trying to shoplift and then starting a fire to distract the employees.
The tactic apparently worked, for now, as police are still looking for the suspect.
At this time police have only issued a general description of the suspect who they say was around 6' - 6'2" with a slender build, dreadlocks, and fled in a red vehicle. Police say the suspect escaped with at least one, possibly two, televisions. The fire was put out, causing no injuries a little damage to the store.
The store was repopened at 10am.
